After Ron Paul, What?

My latest video solicits thoughts on this important question, and offers a suggestion for October. (If you want to comment on this, please comment on the special page I mention in the video.)

Unlearn the Propaganda!

  • George

Ron Paul has passed the torch…to us. We ARE Ron Paul.

  • E. V.

    After Ron Paul? TOM WOODS!

I love Ron Paul, but that last part is just stupid.

  • Jeremiah

Of course none of us is *literally* Ron Paul—and George didn’t mean that. What he means is that each of us can choose to emulate Dr. Paul in becoming a student and teacher of liberty; what he means is that we are now the Remnant, and that it is up to each and every one us to become better informed, more eloquent and more dedicated in the defense of human freedom. For many of us, Dr. Paul has been a Promethean figure, a bringer of fiery revelation and rekindler of the long-dormant desire for an America, a *world*, that ought to be and can be. But he can’t do everything for us and be with us forever; so now it’s up to us to carry the flame, which he himself received from other hands, onward—and each in his own way.

In short, the last part *wasn’t* stupid—far from it.

  • jaffi411

Regardless of what it means, I am averse to propagandistic phrases and slogans. Plus, it just sounds cheesy coming out of the mouth of an adult.

  • Jeremiah

Well, I think it pretty “cheesy” for an adult to carp pettily at
someone’s choice of rhetorical device in a brief internet post. Well, whatever turns your crank, then—but don’t expect to win too many friends with such abrasive caviling.

I do this for my own entertainment, nothing else. All other considerations are irrelevant to me, including yourself.

    What’s next?

    Make the government irrelevant.

Go into the upper room, cast lots, and wait for a mighty wind.

Greetings; Shall we Americans stand up for liberty? If Mitt Romney could be disqualified form seeking the Office of President, then Dr Paul, who has not released his delegates, could be drafted onto the ballot. Attorney Richard Gilbert says “Another day another Romney felony crime… You are a serial criminal [Romney].” In Liberty.

  • Scott Lazarowitz

I guess it’s just a matter of waiting for the collapse, and hoping that the civil unrest, looting, food shortages, rioting, violence and bloodshed, and increased police state criminality are not as bad as they could be (but realists know that they will be). It is unfortunate that we will have to go through really bad times before more people realize that central planning is not the answer to anything. The necessary decentralization process will unfortunately have to be preceded by bad stuff.

    Peace, man.

What about supporting Gary Johnson. Also running for office(s).. like districts, governors, law makers and so on…

What actually is the ‘liberty movement” should be defined in detail. At times, it appears just to be words thrown around without much meaning or referred to vaguely.

Many define it as in the movement in the republican party that is associated with Paul’s staff. For example, noone outside the republican party is considered. For example, Gary Johnson has been dismissed and lied about within the ron paul supporters, I believe because he is libertarian and formally associates himself as of that party and just plain calls himself libertarian.

For some/many, it is associated with standing up for islamists, especially what they see as not democrats, but only hostility from those that call themselves republican.

Many of the same ideals Paul espouses are infact word for word the same as the liberterian platform. However, libertarians and libertarian name and libertarian party has been shunned by most ron paul supporters. Yet all will say “the movement is beyond one man, ron paul.” Yet, most supporters view it as a one-man show along with paul’s staff, including Jesse Benton.

The ‘last part is just stupid’ is true. However, that is what Paulbots means. Instead of being individuals and thinking for themselves, they have given up themselves to this man and his staff, hence they say they are ron paul.

I agree in supporting Johnson, even if you don’t agree with 100% of what he says. He has a great governing track record. However, most ron paul supporters are not with you and believe Johnson falls outside the liberty movement – very sad, but true.
