Bernanke Rescued Us from a Great Depression, Right?

You know all those people who tell us we should be thankful for Ben Bernanke, since without him we’d be in a Great Depression, etc.? They should read this stunning interview with David Stockman.

Unlearn the Propaganda!

  • Luke

That was a clear and consise talk on the economic status of the US. I never hear anything like that on network news, what a shame.

  • StandardConny

Wow, that is one SCARY interview! Thanks for posting the link!! (I think…)

I give Stockman a lot of credit for being so blunt. He’s very impressive, intelligent and articulate. Calling Greenspan, Bernanke, Dudley, Yellen and their ilk “lunatics” without a “modicum of sanity” and really calling them out as dummies is exactly right but few people of his stature will say that publicly.
You just have to wonder how long we have before something really BAD happens. Stockman doesn’t know, nor does anyone else. Can we just hang on like Japan in a 20-30+ year gradual decline? Or, are we on the verge of a catastrophic MAJOR MELTDOWN that far exceeds the one we had in 2008, the one Tom wrote about? Is the Big Coming Debt Meltdown Stockman fears imminent and will it be rapid, as Stockman seems to think? Apocalyptic End Times scenarios spring to mind but Stockman seemed strangely sanguine…
I’ve taken the same path Stockman finally admits to at the end of the video and I only try to preserve capital with insured CDs and PMs. I don’t chase returns at all because risk is just TOO HIGH. Even so, it hurts every day to take 1% return (or less) while inflation is running 5-10%. Hard work, frugality and saving my entire life have led to me retiring on my nest egg JUST as the central planners lowered interest rates to nearly 0%. What a rip! Timing is everything.
Younger people today are being taught that it’s pointless to save and debt is desirable. God help us all for ignoring Ron Paul for so long…
