Buy Our Brand for $18,000 (But We Have No Product)

Hessian has a well-developed design strategy for promoting its brand. But it has no product. It’s looking to sell its package to someone who does have a product. What do you make of this? Innovative or oddball?

Unlearn the Propaganda!

I actually think it’s a very innovative idea, but I wouldn’t buy it unless it came with a lot more features. From what I can see, all he’s selling is a collection of logos. A good start, but the brand needs more than logos before someone should buy it for $18,000.

I would say innovative & oddball. There is already a product, which is the designer. The $18k is just purchasing the castoff of the product(designer).

I see this as tree trimmer selling the mulch that’s left from the trees he trimmed, but with a little more finesse.

There is nothing new under the sun.

“Lover Come Back” starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson (from IMDB.com):

“A series of misunderstandings leaves an advertising executive with a
campaign for a product which has not been invented yet while he romances
his rival in the guise of its inventor.

“Jerry Webster and Carol Templeton are both in the advertising business,
but for different agencies. Annoyed by Jerry’s methods of using alcohol
and women to ensure contracts for his agency, Carol tries to get him
thrown out of his profession. To avoid this Jerry bribes the girl who’d
testify against him, by starring her in a TV commercial for a product
named VIP that he’s just made up. By accident these commercials are
broadcasted and to keep his job, Jerry has to come up with VIP for which
he enlists the help of Doctor Linus Tyler. Carol goes to see the Doctor
to try and get the VIP account, but because she and Jerry have never
met, she mistakes Jerry for the Doctor. Jerry then takes advantage of
this situation to win her. Written by
