Catholic Church Book Now in Paperback

My book How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization was released in paperback this week, with a very generous foreword by Cardinal Antonio Cañizares, the former primate of Spain who is now Prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and is considered a future papal candidate in his own right.

Unlearn the Propaganda!

  • Kyle Preston

Strange that such a well read and enlightened individual such as Mr. Woods, with libertarian views about government is a believer in something so similar as a government in terms of bullshit, deceit and fantasy as the church.

Hi Tom, willie’s not trying to be a knuckle head here, but has to ask……….( not trying to take anything away from the light that christianity has placed on most of the world) ……….but can it be said, that all buffers, ( all religions ) are a form of atheism, meaning they worship other humans over God ? i.e. virgin mary, muhammed, etc….

  • http://www.TomWoods.com Tom Woods

But Catholicism doesn’t involve the worship of Mary.

Thanks Tom for the reply………..guess, what willie’s trying to state, like goverment, ( another buffer )……….does human’s really need a buffer between them and theyre God..today?
Willie believes a God exist, but not that he intervens in any way……..Yes there are miracles that can’t be explained, just as tragedies can not……..kinda like how human”s blood makes a full circle in your body…….Will God intervene when the moon finally is out of earth’s orbit, which may or may not destroy humans..? since it is moving away from earth at a pace of 6-10 inches per year..
Like willie’s earlier post, NOT trying to degrade anybody or anybodies religion, just picking your brain Tom, inwhich is noted to be a fine brain….

I think Marcel Lefebvre would love this book. I do too.

Genuine Christianity worships God. Man is number 2. Mary is venerated as God’s mother, and a mediatrix between us and the Holy Trinity. Catholics believe Roman Catholicism is truth, because God founded the religion through His Son, the God-Man Jesus Christ. Since Catholics believe that God does not change, He is truth and has created order and purpose in the world. Most of that purpose, to Catholics (and ideally for all human beings), is to love and worship God, and to follow divine law as it is taught through the Church.

Hmm as a history buff I have to wonder what your views are of the Orthodox schism, Tom? What were the underlying causes from a Catholic perspective and if you believe the church wouldve been better had it remained whole?

I love the Catholic Church and I was recently confirmed last easter. I have a copy of Woods’ book and have read a few chapters. So far, I love it and I can’t wait to read more, though my busy schedule keeps me from it.

Going back to the church…I can’t believe some of the stances some bishops take on politics. It makes me uneasy.

    http://blog.newadvent.org/2012/09/the-democratic-platform-supports.html

The Democratic platform supports intrinsic evil. The Republican platform does not…
I think he speaks for a lot of conservative Catholics, but at the same time, he can mislead the faithful. What if I don’t want to vote for either party? Also, Catholic media (such as Relevant Radio) seems to paint the narrative that this election is all about good and evil, implying that GOP is good and Dems are evil. But Woods and Jeff Tucker know better, and I’m grateful for their voices. I just wish more Catholics could see the bigger picture and not try to jump on the electoral bandwagon.
