Ezra Klein Calls for Another Housing Bubble, Is Taken Down by Murphy

When I saw Bob Murphy give this talk, I knew right away this excerpt about the Washington Post‘s Ezra Klein needed to be a YouTube unto itself. That our society considers Klein and Matt Yglesias to have a lot of valuable things to say reflects where things stand right now, and how much work remains to be done. I would be embarrassed if I were Ezra Klein, but if I were Ezra Klein I bet it would take a lot to embarrass me.

Watch Bob at work. It gets fun around 4:00.

Unlearn the Propaganda!

He is SO FUNNY—dimple & all!

  • JoshKerrigan

Wow, this is my first introduction to Bob Murphy. This guy is great. I would of loved to of had him as a professor in college. Instead I was stuck learning the Keynesian ways. I need to dig back through my old notes from my econ classes, i bet it would at least be a good laugh.

Haha, wow. I just watched the zombie interview a couple days ago because I am finishing up Nullification and about to start Rollback. Didn’t even realize that was him.

“Isn’t it kind of funny the way Bernanke talks? We always have more ways to shoot the economy if we had to.” – Robert P. Murphy (2012)

I think Tom Woods and Bob Murphy are my favorite speakers. They’re able to present the topics extremely interesting and entertaining!

  • Fazsha

Any one of Bob’s observations is a quick bullet-to-the-head for Klein’s preposterous ideas; taken together, it looks like the death scene for Sonny Corleone. And then a takedown of Krugman is thrown in at the end for good measure. A simply masterful skewering.

The bassline intro and outro reminded me of early Seinfeld, when Jerry did standup routines to open and close the show.

Thanks Tom. If you were Ezra Klein, I would be an Ezra Klein fan.

Tom, I love your videos, but when you call a video a “YouTube”, it drives me nuts! YouTube is a website for posting videos, not the videos themselves. Therefore, “needed to be a YouTube unto itself” translates to “needs to be a website for sharing videos unto itself”. See how silly that sounds? I know I’m being pedantic, but I want you to sound as smart as possible. Ok, I’m done. Go back to posting great videos :) .

  • http://www.TomWoods.com Tom Woods

I’m pretty sure “YouTube” has entered the vernacular in this additional sense; “video clip” isn’t as precise, I don’t think.

  • Bryan Forbes

Well, I stand corrected by you and a third-party: Wiktionary says that a small video that can be played online can be referred to as a “YouTube”. I still contend that it sounds silly and that “video” sounds better. Not “video clip”, though, as what you post are much more than just clips. Anyway, when I hear someone refer to a video as a “YouTube” it conjures up memories of people calling the Internet the Intertubes to sound cool. I suppose it’s purely subjective, so I’ll drop it. Keep up the good work, Tom!
