Libertarian Anarchy

Just received my review copy of a book with the subtle title of Libertarian Anarchy, subtitled Against the State. Written by Gerard Casey, professor of philosophy at University College, Dublin, and who also happens to be on my twin lists of (1) most underrated and unjustly overlooked libertarian scholars; and (2) most enjoyable people to invite for dinner.

Here he is discussing it a little bit:

    He’s fantastic.

    Great book and post, Tom!

I actually did a podcast for Radio Free Market with Prof. Casey on his book about Rothbard as well as his new book, Libertarian Anarchy.

Prof. Casey is a CHARMER!! I’d seen this talk before, but I thoroughly enjoyed a second viewing.
Gonna buy the book, of course. More ammo in my war against collectivism.

  • J Fournier

I predict this is the guy that Tom was hinting about on Tuesday night.

    Astute.

Any idea when this book will be purchasable? I’ve been interested in it for a while due to the above lecture and your comments regarding it.

Am I right in remembering this guy talking to Jeffrey Tucker about Rothbard?

  • http://www.TomWoods.com Tom Woods

    That’s the guy.

I don’t know the difference between anarcho-capitalism and libertarian anarchy.
I place libertarianism in the ltd govt camp, and in the U.S., it’s heavily weighted toward The Constitution, in which a lot of libertarianism is predicated, perhaps minarchism elsewhere? -but it’s still not anarchy.
Terms like Socialist anarchy and libertarian anarchy to me, are oxymora.
I wish this could be clarified.

Mr. Woods, will you provide a review for the book?

  • http://www.TomWoods.com Tom Woods

    At some point, yes.

The more I learn, the more I am convinced that, as Robert Murphy put it, any given population is better off without the institution of coercion than they are with it.
