NullificationFAQ.com

Just bought NullificationFAQ.com, and I’m already using it. This way, I can refer people more easily to what I think is the best non-book-length treatment of nullification I’ve written.

Unlearn the Propaganda!

    Cool!!

Now, may I propose a section of your faq for state legislators? If you could work with some sympathetic legal minds, and construct a common language fit for modern times for the nullification argument. This language can then be consistent between state nullification efforts.

I believe that consistent language, state to state, building on the core argument for nullification will create, in the sense of political economy, a proper ‘incentive’ for the federal government to honor this rightful remedy.

If the use of nullification, and the language supporting it, are too inconsistent, this movement might be interpreted as an attempt by the states to overturn federal laws they merely don’t like. If it’s clearly a matter of constitutionality, where the states make an argument as if they were the courts, though not being the courts, then I think it will be more successful.

Consistent language will also help create a political precedent, which is the most important long-term harbinger of success in terms of using nullification to defend the rights of the people against an overbearing federal power.

This is a great, and very timely website. One suggestion if I could – you might want to create a very prominent bullet-point section that expands when you click it, like many FAQs do today. It keeps the page neat, and web grazers who aren’t interested in reading text for the next hour won’t be intimidated or lazy about it. People who come to the site will likely not be receptive to message in the first place, so give them the quickie version at first.

But again, a great start and badly needed.
