One of the Great Demolitions of All Time

Gary North is tenacious.  You don’t want him as your lifelong opponent, because he’ll never stop.  He spent 37 years on a 25+ volume economic commentary on the Bible.  His time preference is very low, as the Austrians would say.

And Ellen Brown, who would replace the Fed with a fiat money created by Congress, now has Gary North as her lifelong opponent.

You have got to see the extent of North’s reply to Brown.  This is one of the great demolitions of all time.  I am seriously in awe.

Unlearn the Propaganda!

Whoa… it’s gonna take me awhile just to look through the contents of his massive refutation. Thank you Dr. Woods.

When I read the title, I thought of the demolition of Cabrini Green as the greatest repudiation of liberalism of all time.
Imagine for a minute that you and your neighbors were a caring group of progressives attempting to improve the lives of children born to the teenagers in your town who were too irresponsible to use birth control or delay gratification until they were educated or trained enough to afford children.
This is what the Progressives in Chicago did when they built a shiny high rise named Cabrini Green and moved every irresponsible single mom they knew and their kids, to a building full of like-minded folks. The children thus, grew up with nary one role model of a responsible adult not accepting charity but proudly working to provide for their kids and get ahead in life.
All the children had been ripped from extended families, often close to their dad, who might have raised them with self-respect and values.
Cheaters, otherwise called ‘dad’ were driven from the high rises and deteriorated into a sewer part brothel, part criminal, part gang and mostly violent environment. It got so bad, they blew up the buildings eventually. Yet these progressives now reign in DC and still think charity by the cold arm of law is compassionate and that created dependency on government is not a problem.

I know the story of Cabrini Green, but can you recommend any good sources on it?

Thank you for posting this, Tom.

I have encountered quite a few (probably well meaning) people who have been taken in by Ellen Brown and others like her. These are the people whose biggest complaint about the Federal Reserve is that it is supposedly a “private bank.” Leaving aside the fact that it is obviously not a genuine private bank (it would be considerably less dangerous if it was), the thing that baffles me most about these people is their belief that a “public” central bank that did exactly what the Federal Reserve does would somehow make everything better.

I have even heard some people claim that the solution is to allow the Treasury to print its own currency. Yeah, let’s take control of the money supply out of Ben Bernanke’s hands and put it into Tim Geithner’s hands! That would be SUCH an improvement!

Like I said, though, I think most of these people are well meaning. They are just misguided. I will forward this piece to those who I think would benefit from reading it.
