The Military Industrial Complex in Five Minutes

  • Bill

Is that a bust of Eisenhower in the background?

  • http://twitter.com/ThomasEWoods Thomas Woods

Would be appropriate for this video, but it’s Ludwig von Mises.

  • JTROCHELMAN

Dr. Woods, at one time believed the Military Industrial Complex was a hoax. When did that change ? DOD is excluded from audits as well as a
“full” audit of the FRB. Many are aware of the issues you address, unfortunately the American public feels impotent. This may be fact or a deeply held belief. I believe the former. Either will keep us exactly where we currently find ourselves. Literally at the mercy of those in power. What will reading your book do to facilitate any meaningful change ? Dr Paul, whom I support in mind body and money, has espoused these truths for decades. Here we are, owned, bagged, scanned and soon to tagged by DHS. I am by no means being dismissive, however, what do you bring to the table other then academic credentials and a refection of Dr. Paul’s long held philosophy on how Americans and people of the world are getting royally screwed ?
    Thanks
    Jeff

Remove the F22 stealth comment from the video. It makes you come off like an idiot being critical of something you don’t even have a vague understanding off.

  • Anonymous

Chris, it’s a joke. The point is to everyone’s horror, the F-22 kept showing up on radar.

  • Geezerbut

As a younger lad, I had the good fortune of eyeballing a page in a people’s almanac back in the early 80′s. It showed what a trillion dollars would buy. i.e. this many cars for xxxxxxx people plus this many homes and so on. A butt-load of stuff. It really lent perspective.

  • Geezerbut

I should add that it equates this trillion bucks with the total that already been spent by the DoD up to that time.

  • Amano

Paul and Woods agree on a great many things. Neither’s philosophy was in any large part originated by them, but rather by people like Mises, Rothbard, Hayek, et al. Note that Ron Paul also wrote the foreword to Tom Woods’s book Meltdown.

  • Jtrochelman

Amano Okay, the gist of my question is within the last sentence. Many are aware of the problems. I seek realistic solutions. Besides selling a book , shoot me one or two real ideas to correct these glaring flaws in our system. I see none and buying another book to assist in redefining the problem offers little hope for the systemic failure of Congress.

  • Anonymous

I absolutely dispute the claim that most people are aware of the problems. I doubt even 5% are. You have to start there.

  • Jtrochelman

I believe you misread my statement ” Many are aware …..” not most.
I may have misunderstood your purpose . You are attempting to enlighten the uninformed ? I am fairly well versed, however I see no solutions to the most pressing subjects you address. Perhaps I present as somewhat abrasive. My intention is not to offend. My frustration stems from to little to late. Game over they won. I wish you well.

    Where did it go?

Listening to “Dismantle the Empire” by Chalmers Johnson on audiobook and he addresses some of these issues.
